Inglis Drug Store was originally opened in XXXX at XXX Street in Milton, Kentucky. In XXX it relocated to what is now XXX E. Main Street in Madison (presently XXX Beauty Shop). By the late 1930's the drug store needed to expand, and the Daley & Roth building was vacant. XXX purchased the building and moved the drug store to the new location (which is just across Mulberry Street from where it was located). Inglis Drug Store at 202 E. Main Street rapidly became one of the largest drug stores in Indiana. In XXX a soda fountain and restaurant were added. At the time the Madison High School was located at XXX Broadway. The soda fountain in Inglis Drug Store was the popular after school hangout for many years until the High School was moved to its present location on the hilltop in 1962 (???). The emergence of drug chains like Rexall (etc?) and the retirement of the owners eventually caused the drug store to close in 1987. It was purchased (at auction?) the next year by Del Bowyer and Granville Huling, converted to a nightclub, and reopened as The Electric Lady in 1988.
Some photos of the building as Inglis Drug Store follow:
